Leyla Gambarova

Founder and Head Coach

Background

Leyla is originally from Baku, Azerbaijan, and has dedicated more than 30 years to the sport of rhythmic gymnastics. Her journey spans both coaching and international judging, giving her a well-rounded perspective on the sport at the highest level.

Experience

Over the course of her career, Leyla has trained Olympic finalists and developed Canadian champions in both RGI (Rhythmic Gymnastics Individual) and RGG (Rhythmic Gymnastics Group). Her athletes have consistently achieved success on national and international stages, a reflection of her technical expertise and commitment to excellence.

Philosophy

Leyla believes in an individual approach, tailoring her training methods to each gymnast’s unique strengths and aspirations. She combines technical precision with a strong focus on athlete psychology, ensuring that her gymnasts are both physically prepared and mentally resilient. Her philosophy emphasizes consistency, artistry, and confidence, helping athletes grow not only as competitors but as individuals.

Anna Salova

Coach Coordinator

Background

Anna is originally from Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, and holds the prestigious title of Master of Sports in Rhythmic Gymnastics. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from York University, graduating magna cum laude, combining athletic achievement with strong academic foundations.

Experience

Her career bridges both competitive gymnastics and sport science, giving her a deep understanding of athletic performance and development. Anna’s expertise lies in building strong fundamentals, with particular emphasis on proper technique and apparatus mastery as the cornerstone of rhythmic gymnastics.

Philosophy

Anna believes that success begins with a solid foundation of basics and discipline, which allows gymnasts to grow in skill and artistry. She emphasizes making training both fun and challenging, keeping athletes motivated and engaged. Anna also believes that a little humour is essential in the gym, helping athletes enjoy the process while building focus and resilience. She values an individual approach, adapting her coaching to each gymnast’s unique strengths and needs.

Michelle Shustov

Recreational Coach

Background

Michelle is originally from Ontario, Canada, and is a two-time Canadian Group Champion in rhythmic gymnastics. She trained competitively for twelve years, rising to the national level and gaining a comprehensive understanding of the sport’s technical and artistic demands.

Experience

Her background spans high-performance athletic training and years of competitive success, giving her a well-rounded perspective on athlete development. Michelle’s expertise lies in establishing strong fundamentals from the very beginning, with a focus on precise technique and clean basics as the foundation for long-term progress in rhythmic gymnastics

Philosophy

Michelle believes recreational gymnastics should be a place where athletes learn, grow, and have fun. Her coaching style blends positive energy with purposeful instruction, creating an environment where children feel supported while developing proper technique. She focuses on building a strong foundation for future success, all while ensuring her athletes enjoy coming to the gym and feel proud of their achievements.
